I am currently sitting in The Studio D at Wow and Flutter, listening to Shooting Stars (adamandevil) a million times over, as Robert Harder, my good friend over from London mixes the sh*t out of it. It is sounding amazing, and my two favourite Angelenos, Katie Sippel, and Scott Fairbrother are chilling outside in the lounge area.
This place is an amazing spot, used mainly for Post Production movie soundtrack stuff.
Ironically, we have just licensed Shooting Stars for a film that Katie is involved with helping soundtrack. Hence the attention to detail..... The movie is called "Losing You"
Ruth Owen from drinkme is coming to town tomorrow, and she will be pleased to hear for the first time that the movie is also going to feature a song called "Manifesto" that we wrote and recorded together back in the day. Also tomorrow, I have the first rehearsals for the new band (playing the first show at the Key Club on thursday)
Also featuring in the movie from Impossible Things records is "Pay No Mind" by Piel and a couple of instrumentals by my old Xerox project: "Snow" and Hypnotised"
Adamandevil have had "Weeds" used in a movie with Val Kilmer in, called 2:22 or 2:45 or something like that. Appropriately, it is placed in a strip bar scene.
Denise and I designed the press release for Impossible Things' release of my debut album the other day, and I am very very pleased with the way it turned out. Designed for old circus playbills, it looks totally how I envisioned it....
Ulrich has also finished the mastering for the album: "Coito Ergo Sum"- planned for release in early April. I have not heard it yet, as I am keeping my ears for A&E right at this minute, but I will be very excited to hear it when I get home.
I am attempting to revolutionise the presentation of the songs in the live format by incorporating Ableton as part of the backing. Should be interesting......
Anyhow, back to work, as my brain needs to concentrate on things more apposite and at hand. x x x julian x x x
